Building Photograph

One of my building photograph was requested to be use commercially. what is my rights as a photographer?
As per the above question… what should I do? Do I need to charge them, yet I will lose my own copyrights? Or what is the best option I could obtain? Thanks and regards.
Yes you need to charge them.
No. you do not lose your copyright.
Firstly you need to find out exactly what they are going to be using the image for and how long they want it. Only then can you work out the proper price.
You can get an idea of what to charge per usage from here http://www.stockphotopricecalculator.com/Calculator.asp or here http://www.photographersindex.com/stockprice.htm
You then license the image to the company for that particular use/area and time.
Prices vary considerably depending on the usage, for instance a local shop just wanting a couple of hundred flyers, you would charge £/$50 or thereabouts.
For a multinational company wanting to use the image on an international advertising campaign for a year would raise the price to 3-5000 for a single picture.
If you offer exlusive terms then the cost is more than non-exclusive.
Exclusive means that for the term of the license you cannot sell that to anyone else.
Non-exclusive means you can offer that anywhere else (for non-exclusive) use.
Google licensing photographs – there is loads of information on the web.
