Christening Infant
LDS: What is the difference between baby blessing and christening/infant baptism?
Also, is there an uppper age limit (age of baby/child) who may be blessed in this manner?
In a baby blessing they give the baby a name and a blessing, it’s just a priesthood blessing. It also put’s the baby on church records. I don’t know of any age limit, I’ve seen toddlers have a baby blessing before.
A infant baptism, done in other churches, is a baptism. Baptism is a saving ordinance. Other churches believe in original sin, which means they believe babies are born with sin and need to be baptized to be saved. In our church we believe babies are innocent, so we don’t baptize them. We also believe that they need to be old enough to choose to be baptized.
