Medieval Castles and Cathedrals?
I need a diagram (or you can, in great detail, tell me what they are, look like, and are located), labeling these parts of cathedrals and castles:
CASTLES: keep, crenelations, outer curtain wall, inner curtain wall, gatehouse, garderobe, moat, drawbridge, arrow loop, bastion, barican, portcullis
CATHEDRALS: transept, nave, flying buttress, apse, aisle, choir, west end, facade, ambulatory, radiating chapel, buttress
I’d like to have pictures (animated, or drawn) of the actual building, not floor plans (partially because I’ve already drawn them but cannot find the picture that I was using).
Thank you :^)
I would recommend Castle by David MacAulay
and
Cathedral: The Story of Its Construction by David Macaulay
They are quite well illustrated and should be very helpful to you!
